(AP) - One Consolidated Edison worker has died and another is injured following a manhole explosion in Brooklyn.
The workers were splicing cable at 12:45 p.m. Thursday when theexplosion occurred in the borough's East New York section.
Con Edison spokesman Chris Olert says the accident killed 26-year-old George J. Dillman. His co-worker, 28-year-old Craig M. Penney, was treated at a hospital and released.
The fatally injured worker was trapped in the manhole.
The cause is being investigated.
Con Edison said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened bytoday's tragedy in Brooklyn involving two of our employees."
