Yonkers police said a suspect was arrested on early Friday morning after the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man in Yonkers.
The shooting took place on Ludlow Street and Riverdale Avenue in Yonkers.
When they arrived, officers said they found the man with a single gunshot wound to the head.
Police said the man was brought to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
"I'm not safe here with my kids, and I don't want nothing to happen,” one neighbor said.
A violence prevention group called SNUG was spotted on the street where he was fatally shot.
"What we are here to do is to mediate situations like this. Our job and our presence pretty much stops a lot of this senseless violence,” said Maurice Burgess, a SNUG member.
Police said victim and the suspect knew each other.
They said a dispute unfolded and the suspect fired one shot at the victim before fleeing the location on Ludlow Street.
Police said investigators were then led to a location near the intersection of Radford Street and Riverdale Avenue, where the suspect was taken into custody.
No charges have been filed, and police said they are waiting to release the identity of the 35 year old victim.
