Youth Advocacy Day was held in downtown Brooklyn Thursday, where mental health was discussed at Brooklyn Law School.
The event was hosted by the Youth Advocacy Corp, an organization that trains young adults to be leaders.
The conference was called “Unspoken Words: A Discussion on Mental Health and Identity” and dealt with issues including race, disabilities, gender, sexual identity and immigration status.
The goal of the free educational workshop was to help understand what contributes to mental illnesses, how to recognize it and where to go for support.
The places mentioned where people could go for support includes the New York Psychotherapy Counseling Center and the National Alliance on Mental Health hotline.
