Brooklyn Botanic Garden unveils water garden
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden unveiled its new water garden Thursday.
According to its website, the project will recirculate rainwater collected throughout the garden's 52-acre watershed and channel it through the pond-and-brook system, reducing freshwater consumption from 22 million to 900,000 gallons per year.
"We're saving 20 million gallons of water a year while making a place beautiful," says Paul Seck, the water garden's lead creator.
The project also has a water level control that will allow the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to control flooding during heavy rains.
