UPDATE: The family told News 12 reporter Faith Graham late Saturday night that Dasia Brims had been found. Below is the original story.
A Highbridge family whose daughter has been missing for over a week is pleading for the public's help in their search to find her.
They said 24-year-old Dasia Brims vanished on the night of Sept. 29 and now they're hoping the community can help to bring her home.
Brims' family said they're not just worried for her safety but also for her mental health.
They said she was last seen wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants when she left their home on the corner of Nelson Avenue and West 165th Street around 9 p.m. While she typically always returns home, this time was different.
"I do believe that she might be in danger. That's what my concern is. She left her cellphone home, she left most of her clothes, just kind of left with whatever she had on. She should have her wallet and her ID, but that's all she has on her," said Brims' mother, Doretha Warner.
Brims' family hung up fliers around the city of her face with the hopes that someone has seen her.
They said she's 5 foot 3, weighs 120 pounds and has short brown hair.
Her family said it's not like her to run away but they worry her mental health issues could have clouded her judgment.
After posting her picture on social media, they said someone contacted them saying they possibly spotted Brims in Connecticut, so their journey to find her has only widened. Now, they hope the public can help them find the answers.
"I'm in turmoil, turmoil, complete turmoil, like all night, just crying and upset trying to get her back. Dasia, I love you. I hope that you're safe and I want you home. I just need you to come home," Warner said.
Brims' family is looking for any information that can help them put the pieces together and bring her back home.
Anyone with information is asked to give police a call at their Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls are confidential.
