New video has been released of the young men wanted for questioning in connection to the attacks and attempted robberies of three Jewish men in three separate incidents in Williamsburg.
Police tell News 12 that the Hate Crimes Task Force and detectives are investigating what happened to try and determine what may have been the motive behind the attacks that all occurred in less than an hour.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo also directed the State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to assist.
The new surveillance video was released overnight by the NYPD.
All three attacks happened Monday morning.
Surveillance video shows one of the men being punched in the face between 5 a.m. and 5:40 a.m. Three different Jewish men, a 71-year-old, a 67-year-old and a 56-year-old, were all attacked within a four-block radius and were approached by the group of young men. In all three attacks, the men were punched in the face and told to hand over their money. The 71-year-old had to be hospitalized.
"It's just unfortunate that we're not really facing why, what's going on? The people who commit these acts, why are they doing it? We're not discussing that. We're not having that discussion," says Dov Hikind, of Americans Against anti-Semitism.
Gov. Cuomo said in a statement that he is "sickened" by the attacks and that "in New York, we have absolutely zero tolerance for such heinous acts."
Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted that extra patrols will be in the area because of the incidents.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
