A vigil was held Saturday afternoon for the boy killed last week after being thrown from the roof of his Midwood home by his brother.
Friends and family gathered to mourn the loss of Shimron Smith, who loved Spider-Man and playing with toy cars.
News 12 is told that 20-year-old Shawn Smith is being charged with murder after allegedly throwing his 4-year-old brother off the roof one week ago.
Those who knew Shawn tell News 12 that he battled mental illness.

“It's important to make [mental health] a priority and bring awareness around it,” says mental health advocate Monique Waterman. “Because in our community, in this culture, there's a lot of stigma around it and people are afraid to go out there, how they're going to look.”
Waterman founded East Flatbush Village, Inc. 10 years ago with the goal of partnering with city agencies to train people on how to spot the signs of mental illness.
