Brooklyn residents were treated to a free lecture Friday on the history of 11th century manuscripts from Saint Francis of Assisi, which are now on display at Borough Hall.
Father Solanus Benfatti, a professor at Saint Joseph's seminary, hosted the session. He has closely studied Saint Francis of Assisi and his work.
Prior to being brought to Brooklyn, the artifacts had not left Italy in more than 700 years. Benfatti read and translated some of the manuscripts, which are written in Latin and Italian.
The manuscripts will be on display through Jan. 14.
