Family and community members gathered for the grand opening of Ochobo’s Closet in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Back when he was 10 years old, News 12 reported that Ochobo Peters was helping families save money with an online thrift store. Now, Ochobo is back with his very first retail location, Ochobo’s Closet.
Peters celebrated his 11 birthday at the grand opening.
Peters was joined by his mother and many other community members, including Borough President Eric Adams. Adams had honored Peters months ago for his accomplishments.
Peters says he’s excited to stock donated clothes and shoes to sell at a low cost to families so they can put their savings toward their kids' education instead of clothing.
Ochobo’s Closet is open weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. inside Brooklyn Commons, which is home to many other small organizations.
Donations can be brought to the second floor of the building any time between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
