The MTA is moving forward with plans to make several subway stations in the borough more accessible.
Officials say that $15 billion in funding from congestion pricing will go towards making major upgrades at five stations in Brooklyn. The Nostrand Avenue A/C stop in Bed-Stuy is set to get three elevators. Over in Bushwick, two new elevators will be installed at the Jefferson Street L stop.
Commuters say the upgrades are long overdue.
"I think it's an awesome thing because people have disabilities and they can't take the steps. So elevators are great," said one rider.
The Neptune Avenue F, 18 Avenue N, and Fort Hamilton Parkway D stations are also set to receive upgrades.
The MTA is accepting requests for proposals from qualified design firms through Sept. 14.
