Police sources say a man was arrested for allegedly hiding his roommate's body inside a couch in their Crown Heights apartment.

Jose Rivera, 53, was taken into custody on Friday evening and charged with concealment of a human corpse. He and his roommate lived at 1722 Union St. through a supportive housing program.

Police sources tell News 12 that a cleaning crew first made the shocking discovery, leading officers to the pair's apartment just before 9 a.m. Thursday.

They say officers found the man stuffed inside a couch, unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

A man who was once a case worker for Rivera and his roommate tells News 12 that the pair used to argue about the cleanliness of the apartment.

The NYPD has not released the roommate's identity.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not determined the man's cause and manner of death as of Tuesday afternoon.
