DSNY to begin enforcement against improper trash disposal by food businesses

The Department of Sanitation also announced that all chain businesses that have five or more locations must dispose of their trash the way that food businesses are required to.

The Department of Sanitation is setting into motion another measure to keep trash and rats off of city streets.  

DSNY recently announced that all food-related businesses must dispose of trash in lidded containers.

On Tuesday, the Department of Sanitation also began enforcing that all chain businesses that have five or more locations must do the same with their trash.  

The DSNY says that leading up to this new enforcement, they’ve sent out over 55,000 warnings and summonses for improper dumping, and they say it’s all part of their effort for cleaner streets.
