A 74-year-old man who was pushed onto the subway tracks in Manhattan is recovering, according to the NYPD.

Police say the victim was standing inside the 68th Street Hunter College station around midnight when he was pushed by a man who was talking to himself. It is believed that the push was unprovoked with no prior conversations beforehand.

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority employee helped the victim off the tracks. He was later taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

It's unclear where the suspect went.
