The FBI says that reported threats targeting Muslim and Jewish institutions are up.
This comes as the NYPD is currently searching for nine suspects who are wanted in an anti-religious hate crime in Bay Ridge. The suspects were raising Israeli flags and shouting anti-Palestinian remarks before harassing three men between the ages of 18 and 21.
Now, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is calling for more funds to protect religious institutions at risk.
“This program provides funding to nonprofit institutions and houses of worship so they can make physical security enhancements,” said Gillibrand. “There’s no excuse for violence or hate against any group based on their religion or ethnicity.”
