Two new bills were signed into law on Wednesday that could provide a pathway for New Yorkers in jails to get new opportunities.
One of the two bills requires the Department of Correction to offer dyslexia screenings to New Yorkers in jail between the ages of 18 and 21 who do not have a high school diploma or GED. If an inmate is found to have dyslexia, the city will provide assistance.
