A Brooklyn business is forging a name in the booming camper van industry.

Brooklyn Campervans was born out of the pandemic, a time when many people were looking to escape the 9-to-5 grind of work life and travel.

"The popularity of camper vans started really booming with the pandemic," said Arthur Wei, co-founder of Brooklyn Campervans. "People realized this is a viable lifestyle."

Wei and Oliver Gallini are filmakers who decided to build their first campervan four years ago.

"We went to Coney Island and bought a used ambulette from Mount Sinai and we just fell in love with it," said Gallini, co-founder of Brooklyn Campervans.

They took that van across the country and across the border into Mexico.

They said the experience led to the birth of their business.

Now, the pair builds four campervans at a time out of their East Williamsburg garage.

The price to convert the vans start at $92,000.

The vans are completely self-sustainable to live out of and run on solar panels and new LiFePO4 batteries.

They install everything from air conditioning, kitchens, home theaters and hot water heaters for hot showers.

Brooklyn Campervans is hosting a #Vanlife block party this Sunday 5/19/2024 at 344A Maujer St. Brooklyn, NY 11206.

The event starts at 1pm includes happy hour, free raffles and tours of the camper vans.
