Residents gathered near the Columbia Street Waterfront Tuesday to voice their concerns over a city-run concrete recycling plant.

The facility moved to the Columbia Street Waterfront neighborhood in February from the South Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park.

The move, which is meant to be temporary, makes room for the offshore wind hub that will be going in its place.

Neighbors in the new location say they have already dealt with dust pollution and air quality issues due to the facility.

News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation for an interview and it released the following statement:

"Concrete recycling is an important part of NYC DOT’s safety and accessibility work, and this plant was relocated temporarily to accommodate the city's critical, climate-saving offshore wind operations. We are taking all the necessary steps to keep the public safe—though in response to community feedback, NYC DOT will be taking new measures to decrease the size of the recycled material piles in this plant and further reduce dust and noise."
