A Bushwick woman says she witnessed a shooting on the boardwalk in Rockaway Beach - right after a massive brawl broke out on the Brighton Beach boardwalk one day earlier.

Both of the incidents were caught on camera and are raising serious concerns about beach safety as summer crowds heat up.

Callista Kinney, 24, was filming a TikTok at Rockaway Beach last Tuesday when she heard what she thought were fireworks.

"I turn my head and I see that I can see like, a spark, but then I saw a bunch of people running, and then I look and I could see kind of the silhouette of the gun and realized, OK, we need to run,” said Kinney.

Police say a 40-year-old man was shot in the shoulder on the boardwalk near Beach 67th Street. He survived but the gunman hasn't been caught.

The Bushwick woman says she's been on edge ever since.

"It makes you scared to go anywhere, you know, somewhere as peaceful as the beach now has kind of a tainted image in my mind,” Kinney explained.

Just one day before that shooting, police responded to chaos in Brighton Beach after a massive fight broke out on the boardwalk near Brighton 15th Street.

Police say 11 people were issued summonses and six were arrested — including two teens.

"You go to the beach to have a good time and you go for peace and like there's families,” said beachgoer Eiloj Peralta.

The NYPD tells News 12 there are summer details in place at beaches across the city to try to prevent more violence.

"I love the beach, so I definitely want to get back to a place where I feel safe enough to go,” said Kinney. “But I know that that's going to take time and I'm OK with that."

The NYPD is urging anyone who sees suspicious behavior to report it as the department increases its presence for what's expected to be a busy summer season.
