A two-alarm fire erupted in a Crown Heights building, according to the FDNY.

Firefighters responded to 190 New York Ave. just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The FDNY says firefighters battled flames on the second and third floors of the three-story building.

FDNY Fire Battalion Chief Tim Gimpel says the fire spread quickly.

“At first it didn’t seem like it was moving too fast, and then it really took off once it got into the attic," said Gimpel.

Hours after the fire started, firefighters continued to put out hotspots. Crew members say about 110 EMS personnel and firefighters responded to the fire.

Paul Blanchette tells News 12 he's lived in the building for 45 years and smelled the fire from inside.

“It was a lot of smoke. The front is damaged, but I don’t know further in," said Blanchette.

The FDNY says nobody was injured and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
