Fight continues between Cobble Hill-Carroll Gardens businesses and City officials over Court Street redesign

Business owners along Court Street continue their fight against city officials after recent redesign project.
Changes include a new bike lane, spaces for commercial parking only and one-hour metered parking.
"That really hurts businesses that are open for dinner. Like restaurants that we have up and down Court Street," said Mark Scotto, a Cobble Hill resident.
The change from two-hour metered parking to one hour applies Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday's 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“What are you suppose to do run out at 7, 8 or 9 p.m. to feed the meter while you’re eating dinner," said Scotto.
These changes have been so bad for business, that the Court Street Merchant's Association filed a lawsuit against the city at the end of October.
“We’re not against the bike lane, just the design is terrible," said Marco Chirico, owner and chef of Marco Polo Ristorante.
News 12 reached out to DOT about these changes to metered parking.
A spokesperson said the changes will free up curb space for both deliveries and drivers visiting local businesses.
