Loved ones are remembering the life of an 11-year-old girl who was killed after getting hit by a bus in Bath Beach.

There's now a growing memorial at the intersection of Bath Ave and 23rd Ave in honor of Amira Aminova. Police say she was crossing the street when she was hit by a turning school bus Thursday afternoon. She was rushed to the hospital but didn’t survive.

Police have identified the driver as 62-year-old Wawa Aurelus. Investigators say he didn’t stay on the scene but was later arrested and charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Officials say the driver received a desk appearance ticket and will be arraigned Feb. 24.
