Connecticut lawmakers push for just cause eviction bill

State senators Herron Gaston and Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox are pushing for the “Just Cause Eviction Bill"

The bill was just passed out of the Judiciary Committee and would target tenants in good standing in buildings with five or more units.

They say the legislation would prevent tenants from being evicted just because their lease expires.

The bill would also prevent arbitrary or retaliatory evictions.

Senators say the measure would restrict property rights, make it harder to remove problem tenants and hamper their ability to renovate and sell properties
