Detectives are asking for the public's help as they investigate the mysterious death of a 51-year-old man ruled a homicide.
Camden County announced Wednesday that Thomas Haas Jr., a Camden resident, died following a "possible fatal assault."
The case began on Monday, April 6, 2026, at approximately 3:05 p.m., when EMS was dispatched to the 500 block of Clinton Street. First responders found Haas unconscious on the ground. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 4:10 p.m.
While a crime scene has not yet been identified, a Tuesday autopsy by the Gloucester-Camden-Salem County Medical Examiner revealed the cause of death: blunt torso trauma. The death has officially been ruled a homicide.
Detectives have spent the last several days scouring the city for video footage. While they have located footage showing Haas's movements through the city on the day he died, authorities confirmed that no video of an actual assault or a specific crime scene has been found yet.
Investigators are trying to piece together a timeline of Haas's final 48 hours. They are asking anyone who may have seen him between Saturday, April 4, and Monday, April 6, to come forward.
"Members of the public who may have seen Haas are asked to contact detectives immediately," officials stated.
