A comedian known for turning everyday anxieties into punchlines found fresh material at an Italian market in New Jersey earlier this week.

During a visit to Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace in Tinton Falls on Sunday, Sebastian Maniscalco learned there’s no such thing as a quick trip to an Italian market — especially when a crooner starts making you feel an emotional attachment to the produce section.

A video posted on social media shows the popular comedian walking through the store while one of the market’s live performers belts out a Frank Sinatra tune. Maniscalco wanders through the produce section as the singer, dressed in a suit, entertains shoppers.

“Went in for bananas. Left feeling like I owed the cantaloupe a slow dance,” Maniscalco joked on social media.

The post quickly went viral, with more than a million views.

Uncle Giuseppe’s said in a statement that Maniscalco turned “a routine grocery run into a perfect New Jersey, old-school Italian market moment that fans are calling hilariously relatable and instantly iconic.”

Uncle Giuseppe’s has expanded in recent years, with 12 locations in New Jersey, Long Island and Westchester.
