Two people were injured, including a firefighter, after a fire erupted in the basement of a home in Wakefield, the FDNY says.

The blaze broke out in the three-story building at 4137 Baychester Ave. just before 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Citizen app footage shows orange flames shooting from the back of the home.

The FDNY says 79 fire and EMS personnel were called to the scene.

"That black smoke was coming out so strong, I thought it was going to explode," said one witness.

EMS took the injured firefighter to the hospital while the other victim refused medical attention on scene.

The family that lives in the house says they have lived there for years, and the home was completely damaged.
