Police are asking for the public’s help in the search for an unidentified man accused of killing a neighbor inside of 1006 Longfellow Ave.

Police responded to the two-story home at around 1:44 p.m. on Wednesday. Inside, they found an unidentified man with a stab wound in his torso.

EMS confirmed the death of the victim at the scene.

Investigators say the suspect used a knife to carry out the deadly attack before running away from the scene.

The landlord told News 12 that the victim and the attacker were living together for years before the fatal stabbing.

Neighbors believe the body was rotting inside the apartment for a week. Many saying they reported the foul smell to the landlord.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black shirt, dark pants and sneakers.

Police have not released the victim’s identity and say the investigation is ongoing.
