A Jersey City brewery is once again recovering from significant flooding after heavy storms swept through the area last weekend.

Departed Soles Brewing Company was deluged with water Saturday, marking the second flooding incident at the business in less than a year.

"It's something you don't want to have to deal with every time we have a rainstorm," said floor manager Matt Chicorel.

Videos captured in both October 2025 and on Saturday show water cascading from the ceiling of a small entryway adjacent to the brewery's rented space.

According to Chicorel, flooding has been an ongoing issue for years and is linked to a burst pipe in that ceiling.

"We end up just having to grab our bags of malt, grain, anything that can essentially do the job of a sandbag and pile it up against the door," he said.

Chicorel told News 12 the latest flooding caused damage to electronics, including the brewery's sound system, and forced staff into emergency cleanup mode throughout much of the day Saturday.

"I'd like to see them fix what has been broken since last October and before that apparently and hasn't been taken care of since," he said.

The flooding also forced Departed Soles to close for part of Saturday and cancel a planned watch party.

"There was definitely lost business," said Chicorel.

Despite the setback, the brewery has since reopened and resumed normal operations.

"It was really cool to see people coming in to support us and making sure we're keeping our, no pun intended, head above water," said Chicorel.
