If it feels like it rained, snowed, or even hailed every weekend so far this year, it almost has.

There have only been a handful of dry Saturdays and Sundays since January, and outdoor business owners are taking notice.

Sporting events like the Yankees' final season game were rained out. Wall Stadium lost a third of its scheduled races this year to weather. In fact, our News 12 meteorologists tallied up the numbers and 34 out of 40 weekends in 2026 have featured some sort of precipitation.

"Painfully aware of it," said Phil Petracca, owner of Source Farmhouse Brewing in Colts Neck.

"Over 60% reduction in traffic on rainy weekends. We already had to cancel Oktoberfest once, so now, we've rescheduled for Oct. 17 and now we have our fingers crossed that the weather will be nice."

"This ranks first of all time at Newark Airport. We've never seen this many weekend days from January to October where we've had rainfall," said State Climatologist John Krasting.

At Swing Time Sports Park in Howell, the sun seems to shine the brightest on weekdays.

"This year was much more trying. We lost Memorial Day Weekend. I lost the Fourth of July because of Friday night's storm that week," said Joe Miller, owner of Swing Time Sports Park.

Not only has it been a wet year at times, it has been a destructive one. The September weekend nor'easter knocked out the mini golf course's water pump.

"The wind was blowing the rain into the motors on my waterfall. My waterfall is now dead," said Miller.

Krasting sees even more storminess heading into winter.

"Previous El Niños have caused a strengthening of the jet stream to the south and that has the likelihood of bringing more rain and coastal storms to the state," he said.

"Maybe if we can get the weatherman to put a couple more suns up on the board it would be nice, he can only do so much," added Miller.
