23-year-old grazed by bullets near East New York park, police say

A 23-year-old man was grazed by bullets and hurt late Wednesday night in East New York, according to the NYPD.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. near a park off Croton Loop. The man told police he was sitting on a bench when he suddenly heard gunshots—and then realized he had been hit.
Officers rushed to the scene and searched the park with flashlights. Video shows them placing several evidence markers in the grass near the basketball court.
Police say the victim was grazed in the ankle, arm and stomach. He managed to get help and was taken to Brookdale Hospital. He’s expected to be OK.
Not far from the scene, a scooter was found sitting in the middle of the street. It’s not clear yet if it was involved, but investigators took a close look.
This morning, neighbors were still shaken up—especially one longtime resident who says a bullet shattered the window of his parked car.
“It’s broken. I lived over here 33 years. I haven’t had any complaints with nobody—nothing,” said Moshe, who also said he parked near the building because he’s disabled.
So far, no arrests have been made. Police are still working to figure out who fired the shots and why.
