Funding is on the way to help rebuild Sea Gate, which was badly damaged during Superstorm Sandy nearly two years ago.
More than 40 homes were destroyed during the storm, and the roads and sewer lines suffered as well.
The governor announced last night that $2.8 million is being put aside to rebuild the Sea Gate Beach bulkhead, which will not only help protect Sea Gate but also nearby Coney Island.
The federally funded plan includes timber piles placed 15 feet into the ground, which will tower 10 feet above the surface. Pill walls with interlocking plastic composite sheeting will also shield the beach and nearby homes.
