Three alleged gang members are behind bars in connection to the death of a 17-year-old in 2021.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office says 20-year-old Quran Smith, along with two other alleged gang members, waited for Devonte Lewis outside Urban Dove Charter School in 2021.

It says Smith and his co-defendant, both teenagers at the time, shot Lewis multiple times and killed him.

The DA's office says Smith, 20-year-old Malachi Simms and 20-year-old Frantzy Alexandre are allegedly part of the Folk No City Love gang. Officials saying Lewis was allegedly a part of a rival gang.

Smith and Simms both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Alexandre pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter.

Smith took a plea deal of 15 year to life.

Devonte Lewis' mother says she wishes her son's killers were sentenced to longer time because she'll never get her son back.
