Police charged a man in connection with a deadly accident that killed a woman and hospitalized two other pedestrians in Fort Greene Sunday night.
The crash occurred at Fulton Street and South Portland Avenue.
Police say 39-year-old Marlon Sewell was driving a Chevrolet Suburban and speeding down Fulton Street when he tried to avoid a bus pulling into a station. They say he swerved, jumped the curb and killed 30-year-old Victoria Nicodemus.
Police say Nicodemus lived only 10 minutes away from the scene of the accident. She was taken to Brooklyn Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
She had been out Christmas shopping with her boyfriend that night, officials say. He suffered only minor bruises.
Police say Sewell, who also lives in Brooklyn, faces several charges related to driving without a license and without insurance.
One witness says Sewell got out of the vehicle and began sobbing after seeing the results of the accident.
Police say the two other pedestrians are a 75-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, who were both treated at Brooklyn Hospital and are in stable condition.
