Police say a 40-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a tractor-trailer in East New York Monday morning.
Police say the incident happened around 11 a.m. and that the driver remained at the scene at the corner of Fountain Avenue and Linden Boulevard.
They say criminality is not suspected at this time and that the woman may have been panhandling when the incident happened.
According to Vision Zero’s map, there have been eight people injured at the intersection since 2009. That includes both pedestrians and motorists. News 12 spoke to several people who live or work in the area and they say they used to see her on that street all the time and that sometimes she would get a little too close to the moving cars.
Police have not released the identity of the woman yet.
