Police are searching for a man they say assaulted a 41-year-old on the A train at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station.
Sources say the suspect got into a verbal dispute with the stranger after being bumped on a crowded train.
He then pulled out a knife and slashed the 41-year-old on the left side of his arm and his head.
It's the kind of story commuters say makes them never feel completely safe.
"It's definitely scary,” said Priya Patel. “But it's not uncommon. I've been taking the train for years and I feel it's gotten worse over the years. Even though there's a police presence in the station it doesn't make me feel any safer. Oftentimes, police won't do anything, or they come too late. It's not uncommon for me to have to switch trains or switch cars to get a safer ride."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1800-577-TIPS.
