AAA says almost 2 million New Jersey residents will travel 50 miles or more for the Thanksgiving holiday.
That's about 44,000 more than last year.
Cheaper gas prices are helping, as the local and national average for a gallon of regular gas is down.
In New Jersey, the average price is $2.92 per gallon, 36 cents less than last year at this time.
It's best to travel early in the morning if and when possible.
NJ Transit is also adding additional service and allowing children to ride free all weekend long.
