Advocacy groups and community members have come out swinging against plans for additional parking spaces at the new Yankee Stadium.Good Jobs New York protested the new or renovated spaces at an Industrial Development Agency hearing Thursday. The group and residents say the spaces are a bad move since the area is already plagued by asthma and excessive car use. They say the money that would be spent on the parking spaces should be used to upgrade public transportation to and from the stadium. The new stadium and parking spaces are scheduled to be built on more than 20 acres of public park land. The Yankees organization say the team, city and state are contributing more than $1 million that will be used to build recreational parks and facilities near the stadium.
