Residents of the Allerton neighborhood say they are living in fear after a recent rise in robberies.
Tenants living at 2910 Wallace Ave. gathered Wednesday evening to discuss options for combating the string of robberies. Members of the Mayfair and Mayflower Tenants Association wanted to inform tenants about the alleged crimes and are seeking help from the local 49th Precinct.
Assembled in the lobby of the building, tenants were able to pick up pamphlets on how to report crimes. Officers from the NYPD Community Affairs Department also educated tenants about how to protect themselves from becoming victims of crime.
Tenants say three robberies took place inside of 2910 Wallace Ave. last Friday. They say the suspects entered the building by breaking through the front door and then snuck up behind tenants as they entered their apartments.
