An altercation between a police officer and two women during an arrest in Harlem was caught on video.

Police say they were arresting 22-year-old Elvin James for attempted murder when several people intervened and began physically assaulting officers.

A woman can be seen being knocked to the ground by the officer in the video.

The two women, one age 19 and the other 27 years old, are now facing a slew of charges including resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.

The National Action Network has condemned the actions of the officer, who they say has had at least six complaints made against him in the last 11 years.

The NYPD says the incident is currently under internal review.
