Ardsley asks for public’s help in battling lanternfly infestation
Officials in Ardsley are for public’s help in battling lanternfly infestation.
The village is asking for volunteers to join the “Claim A Grid Square” survey effort to deal with this invasion.
The spotted lanternfly is an invasive insect that feeds on grapes, hops, maple trees and woody plants, posing a severe threat to natural resources.
During the fall, the lanternflies are in their mature state, laying eggs. Department of Agriculture officials are asking people to check your cars and trees for the bugs or egg masses that look like big muddy spots.
