Concertgoers got everything they expected Friday night when two of opera?s best-known singers performed for free at Prospect Park.
Soprano Angela Gheorghiu and tenor Roberto Alagna ? who are husband and wife ? thrilled the thousands who attended the concert, which was staged by the Metropolitan Opera.
In describing the performance, those in attendance used words such as ?mesmerizing? and ?passion.?
The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus accompanied Gheorghiu and Alagna onstage.
Friday night?s free performance was the only one the Metropolitan Opera has planned for the summer.
