Police are looking for suspects in connection with an attempt to strip a car in Flatbush.
Members of an anti-crime police unit were on patrol when they spotted men removing tires from a 2015 Honda on East 19th Street near Glenwood Road at around 4 a.m. Friday, according to authorities. Police say the suspects fled the scene.
Another vehicle with two men then arrived at the scene to collect tools and items that were left behind by the first men, according to police. A sergeant confronted the men in the vehicle, who tried to flee but ended up crashing into a parked car.
Authorities say the driver climbed out of a window and menaced the sergeant with a knife. The sergeant shot the suspect once after repeatedly asking him to drop the knife, according to authorities.
Despite being wounded, that man fled the scene. The other man in the vehicle was taken into custody.
Police say they are looking for as many as six men in connection with the incident.
