It was an emotional evening in East New York on Friday as many said goodbye to 8-year-old Charlee who died from an asthma attack earlier this week, according to the medical examiner.
Charlee’s mother, Dominique Corley, says the family found her in her bed not breathing, and quickly dialed 911. Unfortunately, it was too late, and Charlee died hours later.
Community members and loved ones came together to spread love in the air and remember the beacon of hope that Charlee was to so many.
"You never want to question why but you know that she was here for a reason and that's what makes me feel good that my daughter left a lasting impression even with just eight short years,” said Corley.
Charlee was the middle child, with three sisters and brothers. Teachers and classmates of hers came to pay their respects as well.
