The color gold can be seen everywhere you look in Bay Ridge as people recognize September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Trees have been decorated in gold yarn, and strings of lights are adorning neighborhood homes. Even a local bakery is selling gold cakes with Childhood Cancer Awareness ribbons.
Bay Ridge Cares, a nonprofit group, organized the first Go Gold campaign in the neighborhood on Sunday to get the community involved.
The organization says its goal was simple--show support for children with cancer in their own community and around the world.
