Bayonne students celebrate Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
All Saints Catholic Academy in Bayonne is celebrating Law Enforcement Appreciation Day with its students, and officers from all across New Jersey are being honored today.
The students gathered in the auditorium to acknowledge the sacrifice of local officers, who so bravely and gallantly serve and protect. Students invited local law enforcement family members, friends, active and retired, to come to the event.
According to the school, they feel it’s necessary to respond to the negative attention that has been given to law enforcement officers, and they want the students to know how important they are.
"I want them to learn that police and law endowment are human beings," says teacher Mary Cole. "They have feelings associated with people that they live and that there is a tone of respect that we should have for them because of the job they do. "

The school has over 20 officers who are direct relatives to students, including the Bayonne chief of police, who has two sons at the school.
Officers from all over Hudson County, including Englewood and Hoboken, are present for the event.
It's the 5th Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the school, and they plan to continue for many years to come.
