Central Park saw triple-digit heat for the first time in almost 14 years on Thursday. The temperature of 100 degrees matches the previous record for the warmest July 2 on record.

More atrocious heat is on tap for Friday -- with highs around 100 degrees, feeling again closer to 105 to 110.

Temperatures overnight could be record-breaking with how warm it stays. The warmest low recorded for July 3 is 82 degrees. We could stay warmer than that, breaking another record.

The heat is dangerous and the longer it sticks around, the more dangerous it becomes.
There is relief on the way for the second half of the weekend. Unfortunately, the Fourth of July looks to be just as steamy and hot. There is a chance for showers and storms during the second half of the day, which could impact fireworks displays and outdoor activities.

There could be isolated storms for Friday afternoon and evening as well. We need some big storms to help bust the heat. That's what Saturday could bring - leading to a cool down into Sunday and early next week.
