New York
City will be under a heat advisory starting Monday, but today is also
sweltering.
The
National Weather Service says temperatures could reach close to the high-90s
over the next few days. The heat combined with high humidity can lead to
illnesses like heat exhaustion or heat stroke, officials say.
New York
City's Emergency Management Department recommends drinking lots of fluids and
avoiding any heavy activity during the hottest parts of the day.
Those who don't have air conditioning can go to one of the cooling centers that the city has made available.
