Residents in Bergen Beach say flooding has been an ongoing issue for decades. Now, neighbors say Sunday’s rain could leave behind water for weeks.
More than a decade ago, the New York City’s Department of Transportation paved the road, after resident Rina Berman says she noticed the water issue was worse.
Berman tells News 12 she has lived on Bergen Court for 50 years and that this has been an issue ever since she moved in.
She says countless letters have been sent to the city pleading for help, but that there’s been no change.
Neighbors say the flooding gets so bad they feel like prisoners in their own homes.
News 12 reached out to DOT for a statement and has not heard back yet.
