Bicyclist killed in crash with vehicle in Mountainside

A person riding a bicycle was killed Thursday after being struck by a vehicle in Mountainside.
According to police, the incident took place just after 8 p.m. In the area of Route 22 and New Providence Road. After hitting the bicyclist, police say the driver was taken into custody by officers.
Mountainside Police Chief Joseph Giannuzzi told News 12 that an investigation is being conducted by local police along with the Union County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force.
The age and identification of the victim and the identification of the driver have not yet been released.
