The Department of Consumer Affairs has issued a warning to all Brooklyn business -- don't spike the price of kosher foods during Passover.
Jonathan Mintz, commissioner of the Department of Consumer Affairs, says if the department hears of Passover price spikes, an inspector will be sent out to the business to conduct a complete overview of the company.
Consumer Affairs says in the past there have not been any problems with Brooklyn businesses, but it feels it may be due to its annual warning. Local leaders say residents who notice sudden price gouging, which means a jump of 50 cents or more on kosher food, should call 311 and file a complaint.
