Some Brooklyn dancers are scrambling to find a new location for their studio.
The Cumbe Dance Studio on Fulton Street in Fort Greene will soon have to close. The studio recently found out that its 10-year lease has been cut short. A new high-rise residential building is set to take over the property.
The studio has been teaching African and diaspora dance to thousands of loyal students for three years.
The school is now searching for a new, convenient location to rebuild its studio, but is having a tough time.
The studio will stay open until Jan. 31, when the lease ends.
A spokesperson for the high-rise developer, Slate Property Group, says they have no comment.
